Privacy policy
This policy explains the information NearBite uses to provide accounts, saved restaurants, restaurant management and local food updates.
Information you provide
We process your email address, display name, authentication information, saved restaurants and preferences when you create an account. Newsletter subscribers provide an email address. Contact submissions may include your name, email and message.
How information is used
We use this information to operate your account, synchronise saved restaurants, deliver requested emails, answer enquiries, secure the service and understand aggregate product usage.
Restaurant listing information
NearBite may use publicly available business details and information supplied by restaurants, diners or official datasets to create and maintain listings. Where a listing includes personal information, such as details identifying a sole trader, we rely on legitimate interests in providing an accurate local restaurant directory. We limit the information used, record its source where appropriate, and balance that purpose against the individual's rights.
Restaurant owners and individuals may request a correction, object to the use of personal information or ask us to review a listing through the contact page. We assess each request and correct inaccurate information promptly.
Restaurant claims and management
When you claim or list a restaurant, we process your account ID, business contact details, role, evidence of authority, submitted listing information, review messages and team-access requests. We use this information to verify that you are entitled to manage the restaurant and to prevent unauthorised or misleading changes. Public listing details are separated from private verification evidence.
We retain approval and audit records while a listing is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to resolve disputes, protect the integrity of the directory and meet legal obligations. You may ask us to review or remove evidence that is no longer necessary.
Storage and processors
NearBite uses Supabase for account and form data, Vercel for website hosting, Cloudflare for domain and DNS services, and Zoho Mail for business correspondence.
Cookies and local storage
Guest restaurant saves are stored in your browser. Authentication uses essential browser storage. Non-essential analytics will require an appropriate consent choice before activation.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or export of your personal information. Contact us to request deletion or export while self-service account controls are being completed.
